So as we venture to the oldest bar in each state we weathered torturous roads in February to find this great little bar in the heart of Huntsville Utah. The owner was awesome, had great stories and the people in the bar were mostly there because of the ski season. I believe this is or 34th state and we are off to Golden Colorado to the oldest bar in that state. The first 2 in 2019. Cheers
Shooting Stars!!! The stories, the history Please visit, if you ever visit Ogden, UT
Always wonderful to go to the valley and bring friends that have never been.
Oldest bar in Utah...it's pretty awesome and definitely worth stopping by...plus Huntsville and the surrounding areas are truly some of the most beautiful country you will see in the states
Food: 5/5Atmosphere: 5/5Service: 5/5My friend and I had a wonderful time here. We stopped by Sunday afternoon for lunch on our road trip. The longest running saloon in America is a must. This establishment is CASH ONLY. They also have a billiards table. The burgers are reasonable, simple, and delicious. The “mild seasoning” must be the secret ingredient. In the future, I will make a point to stop here again.
Got our drinks quick. But waited over an hour for burgers that never came. No heads up from the waitress saying theyll be out soon or sorry for the delay. Never saw a refill on the drinks either. Gas station hot dog was more appealing at that point.
Burger was awesome. Wish they had a full bar.
Great atmosphere, wonderful food and a large selection of drinking choices. Huntsville's Hidden Gem. I recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!
Love the Shooting Star! Great burgers, good beer!
No frills in this quirky bar which is a piece of Utah's history. Great burger and ice cold beer. After all that's all I need for a great lunch! 🙂
Excelent burgers. Popular spot so get there early or you'll have a wait but worth it.
Really nice restaurant! Super country style , I loved, BUT the meat was extremely salty. I recommend, but in case you don't like salt, I suggest you communicate the staff. Overall, was a pretty good experience!!! I do recommend!
Love this place. Loved the double bacon cheeseburger!! The ambience took me back to when I was a little kid. The employees were top notch. If you go it's a "cash only" saloon. I highly recommend it. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Fun atmosphere...could be a little tidier...staff not super friendly.
This is THE place to go for a step back into true home cooking. The menu is burger and dogs but we love the location, the food and ambiance. Go here to play pool in a relaxed and honey place
Bacon cheeseburger and ice tea was amazing. Ella was a super server taking care of all of us. Thank you ☺️
I like this restaurant! They have first-rate dishes, their menu is varied, The chef in that spot is a professional, I enjoy very much eating all their food. The dishes are always tasty, the service towards the guests is helpful. I often eat in this restaurant and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend this place.
Best Root Beer and Burger I have had in ages. Awesome history and atmosphere as well. Great service. I will be back! I HIGHLY recommend.
Best bar in Utah due to its history and amazingly authentic interior design. Great burgers and even better surroundings. Favorite bar in the west.
First time here and it's been an amazing experience! Great atmosphere, cold beer, and one of the best burgers I've ever had. We loved the old time-y feeling and the warm welcome
In Ogden for business and this place was recommended for their burgers. Great drive up through the canyon to find this gem. You walk in and think wow are those dollar bills on the ceiling? Yes the ceiling is covered in dollar bills!!! Enjoyed burgers and brews with coworkers. The mini shooting star was great. I loved the cooked onion and sausage on it. Definitely going back on my next trip.
Was doing construction and road work outside of their store they offered water throughout the day I am very impressed
An Ogden Valley landmark AND 💯 THE BEST BURGER IN UTAH!!! It's the coolest little dive bar and burger🍔🍺🍻 joint you never knew you needed in your life.
A long-heavy-haul trucker friend told me he looks for the oldest bar in any location across the country and visits during his journeys. I thought, "What a cool idea!" Today I enjoyed the Shooting Star great food, friendly staff, and amazing history. I'm not much of a burger guy, but their burgers and bratwurst are Really Good!!!
really Good food nice people
The burger was really good but the bun was too weak for suck a burger. It felt apart pretty easy. Definitely recommend this place.
Hospitality was great for not having waitresses. Only have burgers but we're cooked amazingly! Really enjoyed this place for a little saloon. Only have beer too but this is what we expected and was very happy with the bartender.
If you want an experience you will take with you for a long time and a good burger don't miss this place.
A definite must if you're passing through!Beloved dog mounted on the wall.Dollar bills hanging from the ceiling.Juke Box.It's cash only so prepare for that.Tip your bartenders!
Burgers and wait staff were GREAT!
Stopped by to see this historic Saloon in Huntsville, Utah. We bought Tshirts and a couple of diet cokes. The staff was very friendly. Beautiful drive up Ogden Canyon and Pineview Reservoir!
A great simple dive bar. It was cool to check out this oldest bar in the state. They have a taxidermy Bernese mountain dog which apparently was like 300 lbs. The burger was delicious and quick to come out. Great atmosphere here. Highly recommend if in the area! Worth heading down from Smowbasin ski resort to check out.
The Shooting Star is the best for burgers. If they weren't so good I'd dock a star for no fries. Great place to grab a beer, eat a burger and play a slow game of pool. This is the mini star burger and double bacon cheese burger.
Great people, fantastic burgers and cold beer!
Amazing food, atmosphere and service! Felt right at home and our waitress gave us a bunch of suggestions for things to do in the area as well as popular hikes, activities and restaurants known in SLC. We will be back! I recommend the Star Burger! YUMMY!
Nice place with a lot of history. A good place to stop after a drive around or trip to the lake. Good spot for a random date or night adventure!
Well this place was one of my favorites on my trip to Utah. Like something from a movie but so much better. Bartender was lovely. Local beers on tap and a burger menu that made decisions easy. Not much in Huntsville but it's worth stopping by for a pint and a feed.
Stopped in for a beer while on my travels and was greeted by friendly staff, a cold draft beer and cordial conversation. Wish I could have stayed longer but had to be moving on. Hope to return and try a burger.
Bought burgers for the crew! They were delish! Simple place, lots of history... very limited menuv(food/beverage). But what they do serve is great!
This is a GREAT place to relax & have lunch or dinner & a drink. The owner & her staff will make you feel like family. You will leave feeling happier than when you came in. It has a lot of history to look at all around the saloon. It's Amazing!!!!
It was a rainy day today and hiking was a no-go, so we decided to drive out to the Shooting Star for lunch. First, the drive out was amazing; just beautiful. The town of Huntsville is small and quaint, and I would say the the Shooting Star is pretty much the centerpiece. It is the oldest continually operated saloon west of the Mississippi, and it doesn't pretend to be anything more than that. You go and get the Star Burger (delicious) and a beer (good selection), and you're are all set. The walls are covered with taxidermy, and the ceiling is covered with old dollar bills. It is cheesy, tacky, and perfect. Go expecting a bar rather than a museum, and enjoy a great lunch!
My new favorite burger! Great atmosphere, the owner was so kind and fun, the employees are friendly, casual and treat you like a neighbor in this small town bar. The menu is limited to variations of burgers and dogs, no traditional fried bar food like fries, just some amazing burgers with chips and a decent selection of popular beer and all at great prices! Oh, and if you decide not to play pool read the notes on the dollar bills that cover the ceiling, they're hilarious! Bring cash or use the ATM Machine inside.
Shooting Star has a wonderful old world charm. Nothing fancy about the place except for it's fantastic Star burgers an a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Great time at the shooting star saloon. Bring your quarters for the juke box. Had the mini star burger and it cooked to perfection with great flavor. Stop in for a pint, stay for a bite, and enjoy this old saloon.
One word - AMAZING! Everything was exceptional. Felt at home. The burger was delicious and the beer was tasty. We will be back!
Good people good beer good burgers!
They've got about 7 beers on tap and the menu consists of about 4 different kinds of burgers. No options for vegetarians or non-beef eaters. Food and beer is well priced - service is SLOW.
This place is fantastic. We enjoyed every aspect of the joint. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the location and the history. It is a huge must visit if you’re in the area, or even if you’re not in the area!
The staff was amazing!! Limited menu and they only take CASH(ATM is available). Food came out pre-split for us who shared and even though we were a big group, we were well taken care of
Best burger around! Great atmosphere. Must be 21 years old or older, and bring cash no cards excepted.
